Ever wondered what happens when you cross a comedy with a historical story? Well this is what happens when you watch Gintama, a newer (not so new but it's still in production) anime that it's manga was featured in Shounen Jump. Much like bleach, it's got a cheeky humor that's not to be missed.
With charachters like Sakata Gintoki and Hijikata Toshirou, you're built up for dramatic events, action scenes ... mayora 13, and Paako.
No i am not joking, you will see the white haired man (Gintoki) dressed up in a PINK kimono, running around this parlor with Katsura. Erm, it's quite amazing to see 'Dzurako' and 'Paako' with lots of makeup and kimonos on. There's plenty of doujinshi out there on subjects like this, with one pairing Hijikata and Gintoki in his 'Paako' form.
I can't go into detail on the storylines because that spoils it for you, the watcher - but there's subtle hints to the real thing inside this anime. Things like Hijikata Toshizou, Okita Souji and other respected Shinsengumi members are formed into charachters inside this story. It's up to you to choose what you know and match it with the charachters (Ok, it's obvious that Sougo = Souji, and Hijikata is Hijikata XD)
There's just something about the futuristic remix of the bakumatsu era that appeals to humor, action and drama all in one.
And there's episodes where they do the strangest stuff.
Go, go onto crunchy roll RIGHT now and watch gintama!
